Community Gardens
Community gardens are public places where people grow vegetables and flowers, interact with their neighbors and as a result make neighborhoods safer and more beautiful.

Children's Gardens
Children’s gardening programs include a wide variety of horticultural and environmental education-related programming that provide exceptional, hands-on learning experiences with opportunities for youth in:

  • Community engagement and service
  • Life skills development
  • Development of healthy lifestyles including nutrition and physical activity
  • Access to a positive, life-long leisure activity

  • Treatment Gardens
Horticulture has been shown to be an effective tool for altering individual behavior in a number of situations including prisons and half-way houses.

    Great Garden Show-Off
Our annual event is a free, self-guided tour of community and home gardens in the neighborhoods south of Locust Street and between Bridge Avenue and Fairmount Street in Davenport.

    Seniors' Gardening
Seniors at Friendly House chose to grow herbs indoors during the winter months.
