Programs

The Garden Growers provides the following gardening programs to the Quad Cities community:

Community Gardens
Community gardens are public places where people grow vegetables and flowers, interact with their neighbors and as a result make neighborhoods more beautiful and safer.

Children’s Gardening Programs
Children’s gardening programs include a wide variety of horticultural and environmental education-related programming that provide exceptional, hands-on learning experiences with opportunities for youth in:

  • Community engagement and service
  • Life skills development
  • Development of healthy lifestyles including nutrition and physical activity
  • Access to a positive, life-long leisure activity

  • Treatment Gardens
Horticulture has been shown to be an effective tool for altering individual behavior in a number of situations including prisons and half-way houses.

    Neighborhood Green Spaces
Places where people can gather, meet neighbors and celebrate their neighborhood.

    Seniors' Gardening Program
Indoors, container-gardening program has been started at Friendly House in 2008.
